Final Fantasy XIV: A Realm Reborn players can now play Triple Triad through the Manderville Gold Saucer. This popular mini-game from the franchise will reward FFXIV account holders with Manderville Gold Saucer Points as well as hours of fun. Today we’ll cover the basics of the game to get you started.
Getting ready to play on your FFXIV Account
Many Final Fantasy XIV account holders may already know how to play Triple Triad. However, they will still need to have their character get into the card craze. To do this, players will need to take and complete the Triple Triad Trial quest. The Triple Triad Master NPC at the Gold Saucer (x4, y7) gives out this quest. Characters need to be at least level 15 and must have complete the initial quest It Could Happen to You.
Completing the quest is required to gain access to the rest of the features of Triple Triad. Aside from getting your first set of cards, it will also teach you how to play the game.
Playing the game on your FFXIV Account
If you’ve played FFVIII, then chances are you already know how to play Triple Triad. For Final Fantasy 14 account holders only encountering this game for the first time, here is a quick guide on how to play it:
The game is between two players taking turns putting cards on a 3×3 grid. Every time a card is placed next to an enemy card, the numbers on the matching side are compared. If your card has a higher number, the enemy card is flipped over and considered captured. The goal of the game is to have the most cards by the time the grid is filled up. Note that there are advanced rules, but those will be discussed in a later article.
Deck creation on your FFXIV Account
Once you start collecting cards, especially more powerful ones, you will need to edit your deck. This can be done by going to your Character Menu, picking Gold Saucer and clicking Card Decks. From here you can pick which cards from your Card List will go into the deck. Note that to register cards to the Card List, you will need to use them in your inventory.
