One of the hardest dungeons added in Patch 2.2 for Final Fantasy XIV: A Realm Reborn is the Lost City of Amdapor. Final Fantasy XIV account holders can take on this dungeon to get FFXIV items and FFXIV gil. We’ll cover how to get into the dungeon, as well as the first boss FFXIV account holders will face.

Lost City of Amdapor

Getting your FFXIV Gil hunter inside the city

Only Final Fantasy XIV Gil hunters that are at level 50 can enter the Lost City of Amdapor.  The latter is located in South Shroud (x14, y30). Before characters can enter however, they will first need to finish the main storyline quest The Ultimate Weapon. They will also need to be on or have finished the One Night in Amdapor quest. This can be obtained from E-Sumi-Yan in Old Gridania (x6, y10). Lastly, characters need to have an average item level of 55 or above.

Mold colonies, mimics and FFXIV Gil

Throughout the dungeon, players will encounter mold colonies. Ranged units will need to focus on the mold bombs while tanks should pull keep the Hecteyes busy. The rest of the party should focus on the colony itself.

Another thing to watch out for in the dungeon are mimics. These will be often found next to treasure coffers.  Deal with them before collecting your loot from the real chests.

FFXIV Gil from a decaying boss

The Decaying Gourmand is the first boss of the Lost City of Amdapor dungeon. Players will need to avoid the AoEs this boss will throw during the fight. Healer will also need to watch out for and dispel the poison debuff this boss’ attacks will put on the party.

The main mechanic to watch out for during the fight is the boss’ Prey skill. When used, the boss will form a link with a random non-tank ally. Upon reaching the target, the Gourmand will devour the character. The party will then need to attack the Voracious Maw of the boss in order to prevent the eaten character from dying.
