As World of Warcraft still being the champion of MMORPG, how are the other online games fairing against the powerhouse? Well, this time we will be asking in terms of community rating. It is, in my opinion, that community rating of an MMORPG is being underestimated nowadays in terms of grading an MMORPG in general.

Admit it or not, we focus more on graphics, gameplay, story or content and the payment model of online games in assessing what to play or recommend. I think it is about time we really consider the community rating of MMORPG’s. The toxicity level in one and the friendliness of the population of the game, we should take those into account when reviewing MMORPGs.

Let us see what people think about the community of the three of the most talked about MMORPGs to date, WoW, FFXIV and Blade and Soul.

Cheap FFXIV Gil: Curious Player

Xievie (from Reddit) is one of the rare players who seek good community atmosphere first before anything else. Xievie asked the people of Reddit about this:

I have an itch to play an MMO of some sort. Having just played and beat 100% Final Fantasy 8 as well as hearing the announcement on the release date of FF15, I feel a pull towards Final Fantasy XIV Heavensward as a next MMO to get into.

What I look for most in an MMO is community. That is something I really failed to enjoy in Blade and Soul as many of the people I encountered were usually toxic and actively tried to make it harder for you to get geared in group finder. Even after quitting, a friend who stuck with the game claims to have had issues on toxic/elitists in instances.

I’m no longer looking for a hardcore raiding experience. I just want to see content and be in a friendly community. My greatest MMO experience was Runescape around 2009 where you’d be able to find random people in random places, and a friendly conversation could be started simply by asking their level in a skill or progress in a quest… I made friends I genuinely cared about. WoW also had a great community when I played in early-Cataclysm. I spent a ton of time in Blade and Soul, Vindictus, and even Warframe but community was never a thing I particularly enjoyed.

If anybody has played FFXIV and found that the community isn’t that great, I’d appreciate being pointed in the direction of a different MMO that might suit me.”

Final Fantasy XIV Gil: People’s Response

The feedbacks were tremendous. Honestly I didn’t think that much people consider ‘community’ as a basis of playing a game. The generation today plus the technology speeding up in development, community feel I think is set aside.

Anyways, reading on the responses of people, there are only good feedbacks on Final Fantasy XIV compared to World of Warcraft and Blade and Soul. They say that WoW and BnS are pretty much flooded with toxic people and elitists that won’t help you in your inquiry of the game.

If these WoW players and BnS players ever responded, they troll you or just approach you with hostility and arrogance. Unlike in Final Fantasy XIV, people are helpful and upon joining a Linkshell (guild), you will never feel alone which is contrary to the other two games in comparison. Again, these information are from the replies to the post of Xievie.

ffxiv gil races

It’s good to know that Final Fantasy XIV is one of the games attracting to play when it comes to community feel. After all, we aren’t playing a solo play game. It is a “massive” populated game wherein interaction experience is important. How do you guys feel about the responses? Agree? Disagree? Let us know!

A Community Like No Other

An MMORPG’s community is as important as any aspect of the game in terms of making a player stay playing. If an MMORPG like Final Fantasy XIV has an awful community as if it is compared to a game having a bad gameplay, more likely players will quit. For me, it is a...
