With the Manderville Gold Saucer now live, FFXIV Gil hunters can now participate in its many attractions. Fans of the seventh game in the Final Fantasy franchise however will most likely gravitate towards the Chocobo Races. Just like in the old game, they can breed, raise, train and race the gigantic birds for items and prices. In today’s article we will cover the basics of this attraction.

How your FFXIV Gil hunter can participate

Before Final Fantasy XIV Gil hunters can participate in the races, they must first complete a quest. The quest they need to finish is So You Think You Can Ride This Chocobo which is given by Katering in Central Shroud (x20, y22). Characters need to be at least level 15 however and have completed the So You Want to Be a Jockey quest.

After the quest is completed, players can then enter the Chocobo Square. This is where players can get their racing chocobo, register it, and what everyone wants to do, race them. Access to the square is controlled via lift. The latter is operated by Saethrith at the Entrance Square (x4, y6) of the Manderville Gold Saucer.

Registering your FFXIV Gil hunter’s Chocobo

In the Chocobo Square, players and those who buy FFXIV Gil can equally get their racing Chocobo. This is done by registering a Chocobo. There are two forms available for this, the Fledgling Chocobo Registration G1-F and Chocobo Registration G1-M. The main difference between the two is the gender of the Chocobo you are getting. The form is obtained during the starter quest for the races. In case it is lost however, it can be bought with cheap FFXIV Gil from the Feathertrader NPC. The latter can be found in the Bentbranch Meadows in Central Shroud (x20, y22).

With form in hand, registration can be completed by talking to the Race Chocobo Trainer in the Chocobo Square(x6, y4). Players can then choose a name for their Chocobo.

Entering your FFXIV Gil hunter’s Chocobo in a race

Once registered you can then queue up for races. To this, simply speak with the Race Chocobo Registrar at the Chocobo Square. The NPC will then list which races you can participate in based on the rating of your Chocobo. Pick a race and you’ll be added to the queue. Note that while waiting for the race to begin, your character will be unable to register for duties.
