FFXIV Account holders and towers

The main mechanic of the fight with The Avatar is the Biotowers. There are four of them placed in the room, one in each cardinal direction. When active, a tower will build up a charge every 15 seconds. Once it gains five charges it will use its special ability and temporarily deactivate. Additionally, if a character moves close to a tower, the tower will automatically gain a charge and the character will receive a debuff that lasts 90 seconds. This causes them to receive more damage from the tower. Three stacks of this can easily kill a character.

What makes towers a threat to Final Fantasy XIV account holders is that they can buff up the boss. If two towers charge at roughly the same time and frequency, the boss will get a boost to defense and attack. Do not let two or more towers reach maximum charge in sync as this will cause a wipe. To prevent synchronized charges, have characters move close to a tower to give it a charge instantly.

Tower abilities FFXIV Account holders need to know

The towers in the Second Coil of Bahamut Turn 3 have different ultimate abilities. The North Biotower will summon a Clockwork Dreadnaught when it fully charges. Meanwhile, the East Biotower will place three landmines in the room. These deal considerable damage and will knockback characters on a Final Fantasy 14 account. If the landmines are not detonated after 15 seconds, the raid will wipe.Lastly the South and West Biotowers deal damage to the entire raid when they fully charge.

Boss skills FFXIV Account holders need to know

Aside from the Biotowers, another constant threat in the fight is the Avatar’s skills. First of these is Diffusion Ray which is a frontal cleave that also places a Bleed DoT on those it hits. Second is Homing Missle which fires a projectile that tracks a target and deals AoE damage. The target can be changed by standing in the line between the boss and the target. Lastly there is Gaseous Bomb. This will target a random player and deal AoE damage. The damage however is split between characters in the AoE, so be sure to stack up.

The FFXIV Class / Job 3.0 System

Crystal Tower and Hildibrand Overview

Crystal Tower was the very first raid-like instance in Final Fantasy XIV. Coil of Bahamut was not really raid-like for me way back because it was just like a dungeon but double the number of people inside. Honestly, it was just like the Primal fights but of course,...
