Castrum Meridianum

Gaining entry with your FFXIV Account

The Castrum Meridianum dungeon requires a full party of eight Final Fantasy 14 account holders. The dungeon is unlocked during the course of the main scenario, specifically, upon completion of the Rock the Castrum quest. It is designed for level 50 Disciples of War or Magic. The dungeon is located in Northern Thanalan (x15, y16). Since this is a larger dungeon, players will have 120 minutes to complete it.

Taking Black Eft out with your FFXIV Account

The first boss of the dungeon is The Black Eft. This boss is fairly straightforward with no special mechanics. Tanks should pull the boss and be careful to point it away from the party when it uses its frontal AoE attack. The boss also uses a randomly targeted AoE attack that deals heavy damage.

During the fight, the Black Eft will summon a number of adds. Imperial War Hounds will use line AoE attacks. 8th Cohort Laquearius adds will have frontal cone AoEs on the other hand. The third type of adds – Imperial Signifers – use spells.

Vanguard versus FFXIV Account holders

The second boss of the dungeon is pretty much as simple as the first. New and veteran FFXIV account holders however need to divide their tanks. One tank should pull the boss while the second tank should pull the adds that come out doors in the area. The other members of the party should avoid being too close to the Magitek Vanguard F-I, particularly its front.

This boss has a line AoE attack that deals heavy damage. It also has a frontal cone AoE attack that not only deals heavy damage, it also applies Paralysis to targets it hits. This is why players should avoid being in front of it. As for adds, the Magitek Vanguard F-I summons 8th Cohort Signifers and Sagittarius as well as Magitek Reapers.

Crystal Tower and Hildibrand Overview

Crystal Tower was the very first raid-like instance in Final Fantasy XIV. Coil of Bahamut was not really raid-like for me way back because it was just like a dungeon but double the number of people inside. Honestly, it was just like the Primal fights but of course,...
