Our last guide covered the first phase of the final fight with Bahamut. New and old FFXIV account holders will be shown today how to survive the second phase of the Final Coil of Bahamut Turn 4. As always, check your gear, stock up on supplies and Gil as the fight will be incredibly tough.

Final Coil of Bahamut Turn 4

Surviving Gigaflare and adds on your FFXIV Account

Once Bahamut hits 76% health, the second phase of the battle starts. Final Fantasy 14 account holders will know this since the boss will cast Gigaflare. This ability will deal massive damage to the whole raid. Make sure to use damage mitigating skills to survive it.

Immediately after Gigaflare, Bahamut will summon the first of three Shadow adds. This enemy must be dealt with away from Bahamut. The reason being that it will buff the boss and itself if they are too close to each other. The damage boost from the buff can easily wipe the raid. Additionally, if it is not killed fast enough, it will fire a line AoE that will leave ground AoEs similar to Earthshaker.

Dealing with Flare Star on your FFXIV Account

Alongside the summon, the boss will cast Flare Star. This skill will summon orbs into the room. The orbs will then tether to a random player and slowly accelerate towards them. Upon reaching their target or colliding with another player, they will detonate and apply a stack of Suffocated Will. Note that the damage the orbs inflict depend on the number of stacks already present on the character. Final Fantasy XIV players need to make sure they do not have more than two stacks unless they are a tank.

Altered skills FFXIV Account holders need to remember

Flatten and Megaflare will still be used by Bahamut during this phase. Note however that Flatten will only be followed by one Flare Breath. For Megaflare, an additional pillar will now spawn. It will detonate after a few seconds debuffing the whole raid which can cause a wipe. Players can counter this by having a character stand near it and absorb the damage. Afterwards, the boss will cast Rage of Bahamut. This will deal raid wide damage that goes up depending on how many Suffocated Will stacks are on a character.

Crystal Tower and Hildibrand Overview

Crystal Tower was the very first raid-like instance in Final Fantasy XIV. Coil of Bahamut was not really raid-like for me way back because it was just like a dungeon but double the number of people inside. Honestly, it was just like the Primal fights but of course,...
