Protecting FFXIV Gil hunters against blasters

Final Fantasy XIV Gil hunters need to be on the lookout for Imdugud’s Prey skill. This will mark a random player for a small amount of damage. This damage however is not to be scoffed at as it heralds another skill that can cause your party to easily wipe. This skill is Erratic Blaster. The latter will place a debuff on the damaged player. When the timer on the debuff runs out, it deals out massive damage and paralyzes the character for 20 seconds. To make things worse, it will also cause the boss to gain an Electric Charge that will make its skills more powerful. To avoid Erratic Blaster, the initial damage from Prey must be avoided. This can be done by casting Stoneskin or a similar shield skill on the targeted player.

Saving FFXIV Gil hunters from Wild Charge

Another skill FFXIV players need to be aware of is Wild Charge. This ability targets a random party member and marks them. After five seconds, the character will be stunned. Imdugud will then turn to face the target and charge at them. If not handled properly, the target will be knocked back and killed.

To avoid the lethality of this skill, three players need to be in front of the targeted player. The tank should be in front, with two other players behind, and the targeted player in the rear. Note that players should also avoid stepping in the Electrocution ground AoE that the boss will place as it charges.

Adds and FFXIV Gil hunters

Once the boss hits 85% health the next phase of the battle begins. In it, two Sons and two Daughters of Imdugud will spawn. While the adds are alive, the boss will be immune to damage and will build up stacks of Electric Charge. Once the adds are all dead, it will then cast Electric Burst that will damage depending on the number of charges. Make sure to defeat all adds, before the charges go 14 or you will wipe.

Crystal Tower and Hildibrand Overview

Crystal Tower was the very first raid-like instance in Final Fantasy XIV. Coil of Bahamut was not really raid-like for me way back because it was just like a dungeon but double the number of people inside. Honestly, it was just like the Primal fights but of course,...
