Your weapon can speak so much of your character, especially in a competitive MMORPG such as Final Fantasy XIV. After reaching Level 50, you will gain access to a series of quests that can unlock powerful items known as relic weapons. These are special fabled weapons, and each weapon is designed specifically and restricted to a certain job. Relic weapons either play a significant part in the lore for that job, or are the most powerful weapons for that job. Once obtained, relic weapons can be upgraded into zodiac weapons through difficult tasks, quests, or rare items you can get from WvW drops or when you buy FFXIV Gil, to potentially become the most powerful weapons in the game. Find out more about the relic weapons in the second part of the article below!
Slaying Beastmen for FFXIV Gil Hunters
After taking care of Amdapor Keep, speak with Rowena once again, then head back to Gerolt. You’ll need to head out to one of the Beastmen strongholds to kill 24 specific enemies (eight each of three different enemies). Replenish your recovery items for cheap FFXIV Gil just in case. The enemies must be killed with the partial relic weapon equipped, or it will not count toward the quest. The enemies go down pretty easily, but this part of the quest will finish much faster if you have a friend or two to help out.
Defeating the Hydra for FFXIV Gil Hunters
Once you complete the 24 specific enemies, return to Gerolt and this time, he will task you with defeating the Hydra with the unfinished relic weapon. Just like with the Chimera fight, use the Party Finder or shout in Revenant’s Toll. You’ll need a party of eight players, including two tanks. Stack up on items you may need for the fight when you buy FFXIV Gil. Remember to immediately kill the adds when they spawn, and make sure everyone is spread out along the outside of the arena. Both tanks should be in front of Hydra and avoid her frontal AoE attacks. When Hydra runs to the center of the arena, all players should stack as close to Hydra as possible to avoid being charmed.
Defeating Hard-Mode Primals for FFXIV Gil Hunters
Report to Gerolt again to deliver the unfinished relic weapon. It’s now time to defeat all three hard mode Primals: Ifrit, Garuda, and Titan respectively. All three fights can be done via Duty Finder, but it’s best to avoid Duty Finder for the Titan battle. This is because the Duty Finder will force you to have two tanks in your party, while you only need one tank to best Titan Hard Mode. The loss of DPS by having an extra tank instead of a damage dealing class can make a big difference in this battle.
With all three Primals down, you can head back to Gerolt. Before you can complete the quest, you will need a bottle of Radz-at-Han Quenching Oil, which can be purchased from Auriana in Revenant’s Toll with 900 Philosophy Tomestones. To save time, you may want to pick up the oil first, then head over to Gerolt. Either way, once you speak with Gerolt after defeating all three Primals, then give him the oil, he will hand over your completed relic weapon.
