The Sunken Temple of Qarn is the first real dungeon Final Fantasy XIV: A Realm Reborn players will go through. It is called the first real one as its difficulty is considerably higher than the previous dungeons. Final Fantasy XIV account holders will need to bring their A-game to this dungeon if they wish to survive this dungeon.

Sunken Temple of Qarn

Getting your FFXIV Gil collector in

The Sunken Temple of Qarn is an optional dungeon for Final Fantasy XIV Gil collectors. It can be unlocked by taking the Braving New Depths quest. The dungeon is open to FFXIV account holders with characters level 35 to 37. Note that players with characters above this level limit will have their toons level sync’d down to 37. Parties of four have a maximum of 90 minutes to complete the dungeon.

FFXIV Gil, bees and faces

What makes this dungeon considerably difficult compared to other dungeons is the presence of Temple Bees. These trash mobs have the Final Sting ability that can kill characters in one shot. As such, it is advised that the party focus on these mobs whenever they appear. Another monster players will encounter while searching for Gil and FFXIV items in the temple are the Qarn Facers. These living stone faces are formidable and also important later in the dungeon.

Taking on Teratotaur for FFXIV Gil

Teratotaur is the most difficult boss in the Sunken Temple of Qarn. This is largely due to multiple instant death mechanics in play. First of all, Teratotaur summons Dung Wespes that behave similar to Temple Bees. These adds also have the Final Sting ability that allows them to instantly kill members of your party. The second major threat in this boss fight is Teratotaur’s Mortal Ray. This ability casts Doom on your entire party. If not removed after 12 seconds, characters with this debuff automatically die. To remove the debuff, players need to get their character to one of the glowing square plates in the room.

This boss has two more abilities to watch out for. Teratotaur has a Mow attack that hits those in a frontal cone and Frightful Roar. The latter is a point blank AoE that causes players to take more damage.

Crystal Tower and Hildibrand Overview

Crystal Tower was the very first raid-like instance in Final Fantasy XIV. Coil of Bahamut was not really raid-like for me way back because it was just like a dungeon but double the number of people inside. Honestly, it was just like the Primal fights but of course,...
