As part of the first year anniversary celebration for Final Fantasy XIV: A Realm Reborn, an old event is being brought back. FFXIV account holders can once again participate in the That Old Black Magic event. Players can again complete FATEs to get a cute and familiar minion for their Final Fantasy XIV Gil hunter.
A dark shadow over FFXIV Gil hunters
Dark tidings have been spotted all over Eorzea and many inhabitants of the realm fear for another Calamity. Where ill events are occurring, many citizens report the sighting of a large shadowy figure. The issue has caused such panic that Khloe Bajhiri of The Raven is calling for help. Final Fantasy XIV account holders can answer this call and find out what is behind all the dark rumors. Of course, there is the matter of getting a reward too.
Completing the quest for your FFXIV Gil hunter
Players will be able to participate in this event from August 19 to August 28. To start the That Old Black Magic quest, characters need to talk with Khloe Bajhiri in New Gridania (10, 11). Afterwards, they can find the different Fates scattered across Eorzea. For reference they can be found at the following locations:
- East Shroud – Fullflower Comb (12, 26)
- South Shroud – Camp Tranquil (15, 30)
- Western Thanalan – Horizon (25, 19)
- Southern Thanalan – Forgotten Springs (14, 38)
- Middle La Noscea – Foremast (15, 12)
- Eastern La Noscea – Costa del Sol (30, 34)
A minion for FFXIV Gil hunters
While the event does not reward FFXIV items that characters can use or wear, it does give players a Wind-up Shantotto. This minion is a shout out to Final Fantasy 11. Shantotto is one of the more prominent characters in this older MMORPG. Note however that this unique minion cannot be traded to other players. It also cannot be sold to the game’s NPCs for Gil.
