Continuing our series of guides for the attractions in the Manderville Gold Saucer, Triple Triad in particular, today’s guide will go over Triple Triad Tournaments. This is where FFXIV Gil hunters can show off their decks and skills against other players of this addicting card game. We’ll cover how to get in and why you shouldn’t pass over these events.

Signing up your FFXIV Gil hunter

Cards for Triple Triad cannot be bought with cheap FFXIV Gil, so you do not need to buy FFXIV Gil. They however can be won from the tournaments periodically hosted in the Manderville Gold Saucer. Of particular note is how cards from these tourneys are often quite rare. Final Fantasy XIV: A Realm Reborn players would do well to show off their skills here.

Before players can join the tourney however they will first need to clear the tutorial match. This is given by the Triple Triad Master. After that, they can sign up by talking with the Tournament Recordkeeper. This NPC can be found at the Maderville Gold Saucer Card Square (x4, y7). Note that the tournament is not only open to players but also NPCs. This means some of the NPCs you’ll see in the Card Square will often come up as opponents in the tourney.

Rules FFXIV Gil hunters need to know

Like all matches, those held during the tournament also have advanced rules in play. Unlike player or NPC set matches however, tournament matches have a fixed set of advanced rules. Additionally card rarity restrictions are also in effect.  Final Fantasy XIV account holders need to be wary of these rules and build their deck accordingly.

Knowing your FFXIV Gil hunters rank

Participants are ranked at the end of the tournament based on their score. Points are earned for each match of Triple Triad won. Winning against a higher-ranked opponent will yield more points. Likewise, the further into the tournament you are, the more points you get for winning matches. Note however that there is a set number of matches than can be played per tournament. Rankings can be viewed by talking to the Tournament Recordkeeper or looking at the Tournament Ranking Board.

Depending on your ranking at the end of the tournament, you will receive different prizes. The top three get a Lightning Card along with Manderville Gold Saucer Points. Those in 4th to 10th place get MGP and a Gold Triad Card. All others get MGP based on how well they did.
