Introduction – Amon for FFXIV Gil Hunters

Amon can be found in the Syrcus Tower as the third boss the raid will have to face in the Crystal Tower dungeon. Amon is a giant humanoid sporting a gaudy outfit, consisting of a suit with a blue cravat, striped leggings, and shoes. He has a large white cape draped over his shoulder with intricate designs on it. He wears a skull-like mask with a swept-back feather hat. Don’t be fooled by his looks though; Amon can definitely pack a punch despite his absurd appearance!

Magic Attacks – Amon for FFXIV Gil Hunters

Amon uses multiple AoE (area over effect) magic attacks such as Blizzaga-Forte, Thundaga-Forte, and Firaga-Forte. Remember that you should have a few elemental resistance items which you can buy with cheap FFXIV Gil before engaging in this fight—anything that can nullify, absorb, or at least lessen the damage you take from magic attacks.

  • Blizzaga-Forte is an ice-based magic attack centered on Amon with a short radius AoE effect around him and deals heavy damage.
  • Thundaga-Forte is a thunder-based magic attack that places three purple circles on the ground under random players, and can overlap for massive damage, plus an electrocution DoT (damage over time) if hit.
  • Firaga-Forte is a raid-wide, fire-based AoE blast that deals moderate damage which you cannot avoid.

Add Management – Amon for FFXIV Gil Hunters

The mechanics of this fight focus primarily on add management. Adds will spawn from the corners and march toward Amon. Once they reach Amon, they will cast raid-wide debuffs on the party, either Pacification or Silence, which could greatly push you into unfavorable situations.

Kum Kum have a tendency to become an annoyance throughout the fight. After the Kum Kum adds spawn, players get a purple tether-orb. Drag these orbs to Kum Kum to make them small. Afterwards these adds can be easily dealt with. Note that the tether-orbs will continue to spawn until the Kum Kum adds are defeated.

Amon will freeze three random players at some point; one person from each group will also be turned into a flame toad and have no command available except Flame Breath. Flame Breath can be used to unfreeze people encased in blocks of ice.

Kichiknebik will spawn at the same time that flame toad debuff occurs. These will each pick a toad target and chase them, so have the free DPS members kill them ASAP. If they reach a toad, they will aggro them and deal heavy damage per auto attack, and even if the players change back, the snakes will still attack them and deal massive damage if not killed.

Curtain Call – Amon for FFXIV Gil Hunters

This is much like the Behemoth battle in the Labyrinth of the Ancients segment of Crystal Tower. At around 20% of his hit points, Amon will turn three players into ice blocks. These players will take continuous damage while encased within the ice, so keep them alive by healing them constantly through vitality potions, etc, when you buy FFXIV Gil. The block will be destroyed once the player dies. Hide behind the frozen people when Amon casts Curtain Call.

Tactics – Amon for FFXIV Gil Hunters

Amon can deal a cleave attack called Coloatura, which can deal massive damage. As such, mages, healers, and other squishy members should always distance themselves and deal constant damage from afar. No one but the tanks should ever be within Amon’s range.

You can use X-Potions and other stat-boosting pots to increase your overall DPS, too. To counter Silence and other debuffs that could limit your raid members’ movements, healers should carry X-Ethers, Poison Potions, and Echo Drops, as Silence cannot be removed with self Esuna.

Amon also has an attack which adds a bomb debuff to a raid member. That player will detonate repeatedly for a small damage, and is knocked back. Support members should use either Esuna or Leech on them immediately because the knock back range is pretty far and could potentially ruin your party’s formation and affect your tactics.

Crystal Tower and Hildibrand Overview

Crystal Tower was the very first raid-like instance in Final Fantasy XIV. Coil of Bahamut was not really raid-like for me way back because it was just like a dungeon but double the number of people inside. Honestly, it was just like the Primal fights but of course,...
