The City-State of Gridania: An Overview for FFXIV Gil Hunters

Gridania is one of the city-states in Final Fantasy XIV, located on the continent of Aldenard. It is situated in the heart of a dense forest called the Black Shroud, or the Twelvewoods, that serves to drive out those hostile towards the Elementals, as well as those who are in cooperation with them. By far, Gridania is the most unified among Eorza’s city-states, as the guilds all work in cooperation with each other under the guiding hand of Kan-E-Senna, who brought back the Order of the Twin Adder.

The main scenario of Final Fantasy XIV covers almost every part of the game world. It introduces to the players the background of Eorza and the lore that gives life to it and its people. There are about 180+ quests from start to finish. This guide will walk beginners to FFXIV ARR through the main scenario quests in Gridania. Completing the main scenario will reward FFXIV Gil Hunters a Magitek Armor mount and will be granted access to Primal (Hard) battles, A Relic Reborn, which is a lengthy Lvl. 50 quest that unlocks your Job’s ultimate weapon, and much more.

Coming to Gridania and Close to Home Quests for FFXIV Gil Hunters

You will start your journey in Gridania by simply walking to the Adventurer’s Guild after talking to Bertennant, thus completing the first quest, Coming to Gridania. You will receive 103 Gil and 50 XP. Speak with Miounne to prompt Close to Home, wherein you will be given three tasks to perform. These three tasks serve as a tutorial to the fundamentals of adventuring. For the first task, approach the large Aetheryte and interact with it. The second two objectives are located in Old Gridania, where you must visit the Conjurers’ Guild, the Lancers’ Guild, and the Archers’ Guild. Finally, listen to Parsemontret’s explanation of the markets after handing him the Handmade Eel Pie. Head back to your guild, then talk to Miounne to complete this quest and receive 107 Gil and 50 XP.

To The Bannock and Passing Muster Quests for FFXIV Gil Hunters

For the next quest, leave the city through the Blue Badger Gate and speak with Galfrid at The Bannock to receive 127 Gil, 455 XP, and (11) Wind Shards. Completing this unlocks the next quest, Passing Muster. As Galfrid is the chief inspector at the Bannock, he wishes to inspect your equipment to gauge your readiness for the coming missions. You must first equip your head, body, hands, legs, and feet with Lvl. 5 gear or above before talking to Galfrid again. The Merchant & Mender at The Bannock sells Lvl. 5 gear which you can purchase with Gil you’ve earned through the first two quests or with cheap FFXIV Gil that you can acquire from other players. You will get 128 Gil and 560 XP for this quest.

Chasing Shadows Quest for FFXIV Gil Hunters

The Chasing Shadows quest can only be accessible after completing Passing Muster. Talk to Galfrid again at The Bannock in the Central Shroud. He will give you an important mission, and you will now set off to obtain something from the Lifemend Stump. The Lifemend Stump may be hard to spot though, as it’s just like any other large tree stump. Once you find it, investigate the Lifemend Stump and interact with the Magicked Blade to trigger a scene, followed by a battle. The enemies are of higher level than you, but you don’t have to fret because they will focus entirely on the NPCs. Once the enemies have been cleared, a lengthy scene will play. Grab the sword and return to Galfrid, obtaining 132 Gil and 560 XP from this quest.

Crystal Tower and Hildibrand Overview

Crystal Tower was the very first raid-like instance in Final Fantasy XIV. Coil of Bahamut was not really raid-like for me way back because it was just like a dungeon but double the number of people inside. Honestly, it was just like the Primal fights but of course,...
