Retainers in Final Fantasy XIV: A Realm Reborn are very useful NPCs that can hold FFXIV Gil and sell FFXIV items for you. Patch 2.2 however improves them further by adding Ventures. Now, Retainers can also go out and get items for you.

Your FFXIV Gil holders get an upgrade

Retainers can now be sent into Eorzea to gather items for the player aside from simply holding their FFXIV Gil. Like any good adventurer on a FFXIV account however, they will need to be assigned a class and a weapon. Players will be able to pic a class for their retainer based on the classes they have already unlocked.

Unlocking Ventures for more items and FFXIV Gil

Before players can send their Retainers out into the world however, they will first need to clear a quest. The quest in particular is “An Ill-conceived Venture” available in all main cities. The quest can be done by any FFXIV Gil hunter at or above level 17 in FFXIV:ARR.
