When fighting against bosses in Final Fantasy XIV: A Realm Reborn, it’s important to know who is being targeted. Enmity

How you can get enemy attention or Enmity

Enmity is an indication of how much of a threat you are to an enemy. This works similarly like aggro or threat in other MMORPGs. The higher your threat is, as shown by the small bar under your class icon, the more likely you will be attacked by the enemy. Depending on the class you are using on your FFXIV account, the rate your aggro will go up will vary. Hard/fast hitting DPS type classes will accrue Enmity more rapidly than other classes. Ideally, you’ll want to have low Enmity to reduce your chances of being attacked and losing FFXIV Gil from death or repairs.

Avoiding FFXIV Gil loss while supporting a party

Attacking isn’t the only way to get Enmity. Support classes need to watch out as healing also generates threat. Additionally, while attacks generate Enmity for the target monster, healing generates Enmity for ALL the monsters in the encounter. Considering support classes often have low health, attracting mob attention is a quick way to lose a lot of FFXIV Gil.

FFXIV has one of the highest healing aggro (or Enmity) compared to other MMORPGs. It is not really advisable to heal at once when the tank just engaged. Maybe a good two to three or maybe up to five seconds upon the start of the fight that the healer(s) starts to heal. Let the tank establish aggro first so he can maintain it.
