Our last guide showed new and veteran FFXIV account holders how to get into the Labyrinth of the Ancients raid for the Crystal Tower. We also went over how to deal with the first boss. In today’s guide we will cover how to deal with the Atomos mini-boss as well as the second boss of the raid, Thanatos.

Labyrinth of the Ancients

Atomos versus FFXIV Account holders

After dealing with the Bone Dragon boss, Final Fantasy 14 Account holders will next have to deal with a mini-boss encounter. This time they will have to deal with three Atomos on three separate platforms. Upon entering the area, players will notice glowing panels at the back of each platform. These have colors that match one an Atomos on a different platform. At least four players must stand on a glowing platform to make its matching Atomos vulnerable to attacks. As such, position your healers and ranged DPS on these platforms.

While the Atomos are alive, they will summon adds. Tanks need to pull these while the ranged DPS damages them. Meanwhile, your melee DPS should focus on the Atomos. Tanks have to be careful with positioning the adds, as most of them have cleaves and AoEs that can easily take out the ranged DPS and healers on the panels.

Facing Thanatos on your FFXIV Account

The second boss of the Labyrinth of the Ancients is Thanatos. Final Fantasy XIV account holders will immediately notice that there are three pots on the edges of the room. Additionally, players will notice that Thanatos is invulnerable to damage. When the fight begins however, one of the pots will buff a group of players with Astral Realignment. This will allow them to damage the boss. This will buff will be passed to a different group by a different pot as the fight progresses.

Pots and FFXIV Account holders

Since the pots are the key to damaging Thanatos, players need to protect them. While the buffed players focus on the boss, the other raid members need to deal with the adds he spawns. If a Sandman spawn, it must be taken down quickly as it will aim for the Magic Pots. Note that Thanatos will occasionally target a pot and drag it to him, if it reaches him it will be destroyed. This move can be interrupted if a healer restores the pot’s health to full.
